How much does a Jaipur Metro ride actually cost? The answer depends on three things: where you board, where you get off, and what kind of ticket you use. This guide gives you the complete fare structure so you can plan your budget before reaching the station.

How Jaipur Metro Fares Work

Jaipur Metro uses a distance-based fare system. The fare increases with the number of stations you travel. The minimum fare is ₹10 (for journeys of 1 to 2 stations) and the maximum fare is ₹30 (for the full line from Mansarovar to Chandpole). There are no zone charges or peak-hour surcharges. The fare is the same regardless of what time you travel.

Fare Chart by Distance

The fare structure is straightforward:

  • 1 to 2 stations: ₹10
  • 3 to 4 stations: ₹15
  • 5 to 6 stations: ₹20
  • 7 to 8 stations: ₹25
  • 9 to 11 stations (full line): ₹30

These are token (single journey) prices. Smart Card users get a flat 10% discount on every fare, so the effective range is ₹9 to ₹27 per journey.

Popular Route Fares

Here are the fares for the most common routes travelers ask about:

  • Civil Lines to Chandpole: ₹15 (token) or ₹13.50 (Smart Card)
  • Civil Lines to Badi Chaupar: ₹20 (token) or ₹18 (Smart Card)
  • Mansarovar to Civil Lines: ₹20 (token) or ₹18 (Smart Card)
  • Mansarovar to Chandpole (full line): ₹30 (token) or ₹27 (Smart Card)
  • Shyam Nagar to Badi Chaupar: ₹20 (token) or ₹18 (Smart Card)
  • Chandpole to Badi Chaupar: ₹10 (token) or ₹9 (Smart Card)

Discount Fares and Concessions

Jaipur Metro offers concession fares for eligible passengers. All concessions apply on Smart Card only, not on tokens or Tourist Cards.

Student Discount (15% off)

Students with a valid student ID from a recognised institution get 15% off standard fares. You need to register your student status on the Smart Card at any ticket counter by showing your ID card and a recent college or school letter. The discount is automatically applied on every tap after registration. A student riding the full line pays ₹25.50 instead of ₹30.

Senior Citizen Discount (25% off)

Passengers aged 60 and above get 25% off standard fares with a government-issued age proof (Aadhaar card, voter ID, or passport). Registration is done once at the ticket counter. A senior citizen riding the full line pays ₹22.50 instead of ₹30.

Disability Concession (50% off)

Passengers with a disability certificate issued by a government hospital or district authority receive 50% off standard fares. This is the highest concession available. A full-line journey costs ₹15 instead of ₹30.

Children

Children below 90 cm in height travel completely free with no ticket required. Children between 90 cm and 130 cm pay half fare. Children above 130 cm pay the full adult fare. Height, not age, is the determining factor.

Monthly and Daily Pass Pricing

For regular commuters, passes offer the best value:

  • Tourist Card (1-day unlimited): ₹150 including ₹50 refundable deposit. Breaks even after 4 to 5 rides
  • Tourist Card (3-day unlimited): ₹250 including ₹50 refundable deposit. Breaks even after 7 to 8 rides
  • Monthly pass: Available for specific routes at approximately 40 to 45 times the single journey fare. A Mansarovar to Civil Lines monthly pass costs around ₹800 to ₹900, making it worthwhile if you ride this route more than 40 times a month (twice daily on 20 working days)

Calculating Your Total Trip Cost

To estimate your total metro expenses for a Jaipur visit:

  • Count the number of one-way metro journeys you expect to make
  • Multiply by the average fare for your typical route (₹15 to ₹20 for most tourist journeys)
  • Subtract 10% if using a Smart Card
  • Add ₹50 for Smart Card deposit (refundable) or ₹150 for a 1-day Tourist Card
  • Add ₹15 to ₹30 per feeder bus ride if needed

Most tourists making 4 to 6 metro trips over 2 to 3 days spend between ₹100 and ₹200 total on metro fares. That is less than what a single auto-rickshaw ride across the city would cost.

Penalty Fares

A few situations trigger penalty charges:

  • Lost token before exit: ₹50 penalty at the customer service window
  • Travelling beyond the station your token was issued for: Pay the fare difference plus ₹10 at the exit counter
  • Travelling without a valid ticket (caught during checks): ₹250 penalty
  • Damaging metro property or equipment: Fines up to ₹500 depending on the damage

Key Highlights

  • 1Fares range from ₹10 (1 to 2 stations) to ₹30 (full line)
  • 2Smart Card gives 10% off, students 15% off, seniors 25% off
  • 3No peak-hour surcharge, the fare is the same all day
  • 4Tourist Card (₹150 per day) gives unlimited rides
  • 5Children under 90 cm travel completely free

Practical Tips

  • The OneJaipur app shows exact fares for any station pair before you buy your ticket
  • A Smart Card paying for itself after just 5 rides factoring in the 10% discount and ₹50 deposit
  • If you plan 4 or more rides in one day, the Tourist Card at ₹150 is almost always cheaper
  • Keep ₹30 minimum balance on your Smart Card to avoid getting blocked at the entry gate
  • Student discount requires one-time registration at the counter with your ID, then applies automatically
