One limitation of the current Pink Line is that it covers a 12 km east-west corridor - anything north, south, or beyond the line's endpoints requires a different mode. This is where the feeder bus network steps in. Six feeder routes (FB-01 through FB-06) are specifically designed to extend metro reach into areas the rail line doesn't cover directly.

What Are Feeder Buses?

Feeder buses are smaller, dedicated buses that operate timed connections to and from metro stations. Unlike the general Rajasthan Roadways city bus network, feeder buses are co-ordinated with the metro schedule - they're supposed to be waiting at the station bus stop when the train arrives. In practice, this synchronization works reasonably well during peak hours but can slip by 5–10 minutes during off-peak times.

Feeder buses are operated by JMRC in partnership with the city transport authority. Fares are separate from your metro ticket - typically ₹15–30 per journey depending on distance.

The Six Feeder Routes

FB-01: Mansarovar to Vaishali Nagar

Starts at Mansarovar Metro Station and covers the western residential belt. Key stops include Vaishali Nagar market, Sector 4–7 residential areas, and Jagatpura. Useful for residents of western suburbs who need last-mile connectivity from the metro terminal.

FB-02: Civil Lines to Sindhi Camp / SMS Hospital

This is the highest-demand feeder route. It connects Civil Lines Metro Station (the busiest station) to the main Sindhi Camp bus terminal and loops past SMS Hospital - one of Jaipur's largest public hospitals. Runs every 15–20 minutes during peak hours.

FB-03: Chandpole to Johari Bazaar and Tripolia Bazar

Connects Chandpole Metro Station (the eastern terminus) deep into the old walled city. Covers Johari Bazaar (jewelry market), Tripolia Bazar, and extends toward Ramganj Chowk. This route is particularly valuable for tourists visiting old city markets who don't want to walk 2–3 km from Chandpole station in the heat.

FB-04: Badi Chaupar to Hawa Mahal and City Palace area

Short-loop feeder serving the most tourist-dense part of the city. From Badi Chaupar it loops past Hawa Mahal, City Palace entrance, and back. Journey time is approximately 10–12 minutes. This is the best feeder route for tourists - it replaces a ₹80–100 auto-rickshaw ride for ₹15.

FB-05: New Gate to Pink Pearl area and GT Road

Serves the commercial and educational belt south of New Gate station. Covers Pink Pearl water park area, Lal Kothi, and portions of the Tonk Road. Mostly useful for local commuters.

FB-06: Shyam Nagar to surrounding residential areas

Covers the mid-line residential areas around Shyam Nagar station, connecting to nearby markets, schools, and the bus stand at Hasanpura. Lower frequency route - runs every 25–30 minutes.

How to Use the Feeder Bus System

Exit the metro station and follow signs for "Feeder Bus Stand" - typically a marked bay just outside the main station exit. Boards at the bus bay show the route number and key stops. Buy your ticket from the conductor on the bus (exact change or small bills appreciated). The OneJaipur app shows feeder bus stop information but live tracking is not yet fully integrated.

Integrated Ticketing: Current Status

As of 2026, integrated metro + feeder bus ticketing is not available - you pay separately for each mode. JMRC has announced plans to introduce a combined journey ticket in future, but no firm launch date has been confirmed. For now, carry ₹15–30 in cash for each feeder bus leg of your journey.

  • 4FB-02 (Civil Lines to Sindhi Camp) has the highest frequency at peak hours
  • 5FB-03 covers old city markets including Johari Bazaar and Tripolia Bazar

Practical Tips

  • FB-04 from Badi Chaupar to Hawa Mahal saves ₹60–80 compared to an auto-rickshaw
  • Carry ₹20–30 in small notes/coins for feeder bus fare - conductors rarely have large change
  • Feeder buses synchronize with trains during peak hours - less reliable at mid-day
  • The bus bay is just outside the main station exit, marked with orange boards
  • FB-02 at Civil Lines gets crowded - board from the second door to find a seat faster
